Materials:
1 set of US size 9 double pointed knitting needles
Worsted weight yarn (1 skien will make many pairs of mittens)
Cast on 30 stitches. Separate stitches evenly among needles.
Join into round, being careful not to twist stitches.
Rib in k1, p1 ribbing for 1"
Make eyelets as follows:
Knit one round
*k2tog, yo. Repeat from * to end of round
Knit one round
Knit in stockinette stitch for 3"
Shape end:
Round 1: *K4 k2tog* Repeat from * to end of round (25 stitches)
Round 2: Knit all stitches
Round 3: *K3 k2tog* Repeat from * to end of round (20 stitches)
Round 4: Knit all stitches
Round 5: *K2 k2tog* Repeat from * to end of round (15 stitches)
Round 6: *K1 k2tog* Repeat from * to end of round (10 stitches)
Move stitches onto 2 needles, 5 stitches on each needle.
Finish: 3 needle bind-off
Weave in ends.
Thread ribbon or cord through eyelet holes at the wrist. (Picture shows a braided ribbon in the same yarn used to make mittens)
